This month marks an amazing milestone on our Moving On Up programme journey as we’ve been able to make our first awards to young people to cover some of the costs of moving out. We received 17 applications, and after much consideration, were able to make grants of up to £1000 to eight young people from seven different Foyers. The money will help ease the financial burden young people face when moving out of their Foyer – such as buying essential white goods, paying for utilities or making a security deposit.

Support during the cost of living crisis

Young people looking to move on from Foyer accommodation have additional hurdles to overcome due to the cost of living crisis. In our Big Questions survey, Foyer residents told us that ‘cost of living’ is one of the biggest challenges they face. Our Moving On Up fund, designed in partnership with LandAid, will offer 100 young people up to £1000 each. The funding is specifically intended to provide much-needed assistance to move out of supported accommodation. Especially during these difficult times, Moving On Up grants will help ease the transition into a fulfilling adult life.

Nominate a young person for a grant

The Moving On Up fund is open till March 2024 and we’ll be awarding grants every month – up to £1000 per person. The fund offers the opportunity for young people to purchase essential items needed to move out of our member Foyers. Download your info pack today, and be sure to fill in this form to nominate the residents who’re leaving your Foyer and taking their first steps towards independent adulthood.
