We’re raising money for talent bonds with the Big Give Christmas Challenge

Advent calendars and sprouts are on sale, the faint sound of jingle bells can be heard in the air, and is that the smell of chestnuts roasting? We’re in the countdown to Christmas which can only mean one thing: the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge!

From midday on Tuesday 29 November until midday on Tuesday 6 December we will be inviting donations for our talent bond programme, which invests directly in the skills and talents of young people with experience of homelessness. Every pound donated during this seven-day period will be DOUBLED thanks to generous pledges from our supporters and our champion, the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust.

2022 is our fifth year taking part in the UK’s largest digital match funding programme. Last year our amazing supporters raised £5000 for young people living in Foyers. This year we’d love to raise the same amount again and award between 15-20 young people up to £300 each to grow a skill or talent – and thrive.

Young people who live in Foyers are full of creativity, talent and ambition, but all too often they don’t have access to the resources needed to grow those skills and realise their potential. This is a particularly challenging time for young people who have spent the last few years living through a pandemic, only to find themselves in a cost of living crisis. Talent bonds are small grants for specific items, training and other purchases young people need to further their passions and pursue positive futures of their choosing.

The cost of living crisis has us all feeling the pinch. We appreciate each and every pound we receive for our young people and with the Christmas Challenge’s match funding, every single one is doubled. It’s a fantastic way to make a difference and have twice the impact.

We’ll be promoting our campaign across our social media this month – please like, share and hype up our posts when you see them! For now, save the week of 29 November in your diary. We’ll go live on Giving Tuesday.

The Foyer Federation is registered in England and Wales under company number 2699839 at Work.Life, Core Building, 30 Brown Street, Manchester, M2 1DH. The charity is registered under charity number 1040482.
