Two weeks ago, we took 10 young people from nine Foyers around the UK to rural Northamptonshire for three days of adventure, workshops and games.

As well as building confidence, communication and leadership skills, this residential focused on listening to young people’s views about their Foyers, including what they love, what they’d like to change and what their dream Foyer might look like.

In our 2019 Power Up residential report for Foyers, we’ve outlined feedback from young people on four key questions:

  • What do you like about your Foyer?
  • What don’t you like about your Foyer?
  • What have you heard about other Foyers you’d like to see in your own?
  • What would make your Foyer a place you’d choose?

We’ve also set our six key challenges for Foyers to take on as a result of the feedback. These challenges will help to improve communication in your Foyer between young people and staff, to build trust and understanding about the decision-making process, and will demonstrate that your Foyer is a truly youth-led service that keeps Advantaged Thinking at the heart of everything it does.
