We are delighted to announce the launch of Power Up 2019 – a programme that amplifies the voices of young people and helps them to effect change in their lives, the Foyer network and beyond.

After a successful first year, we’re back for a second time, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated young people to join us.

Why take part in Power Up?

Power Up helps young people to realise their power and purpose by trusting them and their talents. It does this by:

  • Listening to young people’s views and ideas.
  • Recognising young people’s talents and abilities.
  • Giving young people a platform and amplifying their voices.
  • Trusting young people to be brave, create opportunities and build solutions.
  • During the course of the programme, young people will:
  • Grow in confidence
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Build communication skills
  • Practise self-reflection
  • Celebrate their talents
  • Make real change

Who is Power Up for?

Power Up is for any Foyer resident with a desire to positively impact their own lives or their service. It’s for young people who are passionate about making a real difference.

The programme is perfect for young people who have something to say, or an ability to truly listen. It’s a great opportunity for those with the skills to influence others positively.

It’s for young people who have a talent that they want to showcase, and for those who want to build their social confidence, or could benefit from some leadership training before starting work.

Whoever comes to mind when you read this, we’d love to hear from them!

What does Power Up include?

A two-night residential (15 places) in October with exciting workshops, challenging activities and the chance to meet with peers.

The Hear Me Out fund (10 £250 awards) to support young person-led activities in learning, training or change.

A young person-focused page on the Foyer Federation website to showcase talents, amplify views and demonstrate influence.

Monthly discussion groups to raise issues, celebrate achievements, update on progress, and share guidance and support.

Influence of the Foyer Federation work and strategy for the next year.

How do you apply?

To apply, young people can simply fill out this application form. Applications for the residential close on 20 September, and we’ll be taking applications for the rest of the programme until 16 December.
