On May 4th 2021, YMCA Crewe reopened its newly refurbished GLO Café to the public. The launch event saw an influx of local supporters, including the local MP, Police and Crime Commissioner, the Mayor and our very own Joel Lewis, Chief Executive at the Foyer Federation, who received free coffee and cake! BBC Radio Stoke also featured the launch on their morning programme at 07:45.

The GLO Café at YMCA Crewe provides meaningful training opportunities for service users and volunteers. The experienced Barista and Catering Tutor will work with service users and volunteers to help them develop the necessary skills for working in the hospitality environment, including cooking, making specialty coffees, and customer service.

After the event, one attendee told us that they feel the Café provides “an amazing sense of community”. As the Government’s Coronavirus restrictions were still in place, attendees were served in a takeout capacity, but in the future they will be able to sit in for socialising or meetings, which we hope will heighten this community feel even more.

The GLO Café is open to the public Monday to Friday from 10am-3pm. Why not stop by for a coffee next time you’re in the area?

The Foyer Federation is registered in England and Wales under company number 2699839 at Work.Life, Core Building, 30 Brown Street, Manchester, M2 1DH. The charity is registered under charity number 1040482.
