Transformational Asset Framework
Offering a vision for inspirational services with the reach and resilience to bring about real change.
The Foyer Federation's Transformational Assets Framework is based on international research and has been developed over a number of years. The framework is focused both on the 'assets' which young people need to develop as part of a positive transition to independent adulthood, and beyond, and the 'assets' that commissioners, services and communities need to have in place to support them.
Traditionally, assets are understood as possessions which give future benefit in terms of contributing to cash flows or the provision of services. However, assets also refer to the different qualities, people and resources that add value.
For young people, this means developing an asset base of 'skills, resources and opportunities' to navigate their current and future life. For services and commissioners, this means developing an asset base of 'capital, capability and character' to shape an inspirational offer for young people.
In both cases, the asset base must have a contextual value and community impact which ensures this 'life' and 'offer' it supports enables young people to 'build and thrive' rather than just 'survive and cope'.
The Foyer Federation's Transformational Asset Framework lies at the heart of our approach to how young people can transform their lives, and how services should be designed, commissioned, funded, delivered and evaluated across the third and public sector.
The framework also forms the focus of many of the new projects we are piloting and developing for replication.
it is available as a product and consultancy tools for services and commissioners, alongside a new quality mark to recognise and share transformational practice.
